No Doubt return from breakup that never was

The first pavilion-scale concert I ever attended by choice was in 1997 - No Doubt, Cake, and The Vandals. I remember being an embarrassed 13-year-old when Gwen Stefani yelled, "FUCK THE RAIN!" with my parents standing next to me. I have Gwen to thank for making it harder to convince my parents to let me go to rock shows in the future...

Over the years, No Doubt made their transition from ska legends to pop icons. It was a roller-coaster ride that brought them legions of new fans, while many swore the band off claiming that the band had sold out. Alas, in 2004, Gwen Stefani began to pursue a solo career, and No Doubt seemed to fall off the radar.

Rumors of a breakup surfaced, which certainly seemed likely given the context of their video for "Don't Speak." An image-centric spotlight change seemed to deeply upset the band, and with Gwen's solo career taking off, most considered the band done.

Surprising their enormous following and dispelling rumors of hiatus, breakup and bad blood, No Doubt are back on a 53-date North American tour rocking all the hits. This time they're traveling in separate tour buses due to new families, but bassist Tony Kanal (still family-free) has his bus packed with a full-featured recording studio. Maybe we'll see a new No Doubt album after all!

Metallica fan urine-soaked by ex-cop

Concerts are meant to get out of hand. When I think about the phrase "rock show," the first thing that comes to mind is a stream of cops flooding the Rage Against the Machine concert during the last song when Zach de la Rocha screamed "F@#% YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!"

These events can quickly become unruly, but they don't often get as disgusting as an ex-cop from Massachusetts urinating on a Metallica fan.

Apparently Joseph Houston was so intoxicated at a January Metallica concert in Boston that he urinated on the concert patron in-front of him. Houston decided that rather than miss a lick of "All Nightmare Long," the better choice would be to use another Metallica fan as his own private urinal.

I've certainly witnessed my fair share of drug-related, violent, and even sexual acts at concerts, but this might take the cake on the intensity scale. Have a classic concert moment that you think could compete? Fire away in the comments!

Buzzfest XXII Lineup Announced

When I think of sound checks and sunburn, the first thing that comes to mind is sitting in the lawn in sweltering heat waiting on the next Buzzfest band to perform.

For nearly 15 years, Buzzfest has been Houston's showcase for top 40 rock acts. Starting in 1995, it has been home to such great artists as Alice in Chains, Bush, Silverchair, Foo Fighters, Collective Soul, and Audioslave.

Every year, the talent buyers for Buzzfest seem to snag the most popular bands of the year, and recently they've been able to book the music industry's most anticipated reunions. This year's lineup has been announced, and it doesn't disappoint!

King of Pop turns Comeback Kid

During a rare public appearance today, Michael Jackson announced his first major tour dates in more than a decade.

Amidst a crowd of screaming fans, Jackson appeared onstage and made a short (if not spacey) speech stating that the tour would be his final performances.

"I love you all, I really do," said Jackson. "I'll be performing the songs that my fans want to hear."

The series of shows, appropriately dubbed This is it! will be at The O2 arena in London beginning July 8, 2009. Tickets for all 10 shows will be available for sale beginning March 11.

Fans were excited to see a public appearance by The King of Pop despite his recent newsworthy lawsuit.

Jackson closed out the event by raising his fist in the air and declaring, "This is it. I'll see you in July."
